The Artist Politic is a talk show focused on the thoughts and wisdom of creative folks.

Starting with exploring the creative process of each guest, we quickly work into discussing what is going on in the world. We explore topics of the day that are important to all of us: Racial Equality, Gay Rights, Gun Control, Mental Health, Politics, Climate Change, Immigration, Feminism, etc.

And, most importantly, we explore where these topics and artistry intersect.

Charlie Smith is a composer, producer and instrumentalist from Seattle. After cutting his teeth in the jazz scene he started working in the pop music world as an arranger. Before long he joined indie-rockers, Throw Me The Statue, as a sideman. After a few years on the road he began focusing more on spending time in the studio as a producer. He was awarded Seattle Weekly’s Best Producer for his work with Pillar Point, Kairos, Katie Kate and Pollens. All the while, creating music for radio and TV ads.
Now, as the host of The Artist Politic, he is focusing his creative efforts on giving artists a platform to talk about their thoughts on the social/political issues facing our community.

Matt "Spek" Watson is a Seattle-based producer, video editor, and Emmy-nominated composer. He is best known for his videos tackling local political issues, his Marshawn Lynch remixes, and his satirical website, Bitter Barista. His new album, the followup to the critically acclaimed Crossover Event , will be released June 21st. Spekulation spends his days raising two daughters and finding time in between to make stuff on the internet.
